When The Sun Sleeps - Underoath I always get random bouts of people travelling/or at other places, like, Robin talking about China, Mr. Jaywalk in China, Ms. Chew in Seattle, brother who was at California and San Francisco, Alicia going to Indonesia, Ainsley who went to Taiwan, Casper at Sydney with his girlfriend, Mimi at Paris and the list goes on and on. I definitely miss travelling a lot. I used to frequent China and Hong Kong quite often when I was younger.Remember that feeling when you found out that you're going to travel and you always pack too early beforehand? The instances when my mom like to say, "Oh dear, we forgot lingling's passport." Yes, I do have embarrassing family nicknames. I used to fall for that trick, all the time. Till I was like, 10? Anyhows, I love plane rides. Plane rides used to be for cloud watching purposes and transport to the destination of course. Technological advancements made plane rides a little tolerable but sometimes, I didn't like it when I was more engrossed in the pixelated Super Mario game rather than cloud watching. There were always stories of plane food tasting like shit but, I haven't experienced shitty plane food. *Shrugs* I miss the times when you were checking in to the hotel, eating morning breakfast (for real) with your family and .. tucking yourself into the icy cold sheets of the hotel bed, smiling to yourself. Clutching the sheets and shuffling around, starting to get excited over what's going to happen tomorrow. As I grew older, I realized I stopped all these silly actions. Everytime I went to Hong Kong, I just wished the plane would go faster, miraculously fetching us to the destination quickly. I've stopped cloud watching, began to ditch plane food because of teenage mindset. Reached Hong Kong feeling overjoyed still but it's not the same as before, when I was younger and how should I say this, more innocent and less materialistic ? When I was in China, I remembered staying there for a long long long long time.I loved the electric blankets, I loved the HUGE aquariums that had neon coloured shrimps and exotic fishes in the living room.I loved running around in pj's and socks. I miss the little packet of things that we used to shake all the time which created heat (does anybody know what this is?). I used to stuff them in my coat pockets thinking that they might catch on fire. I didn't miss taking cabs when I was in China though, I don't think I had a great experience. I loved the never-ending 小笼包s and also the 小南国 restaurant. Lots of gold everywhere and I miss going to the antique shops with my family randomly picking furnitures to be sent back to Singapore. Posing for the cameras and eating ice cream is sub zero temperatures. What's better than that? I know I don't miss the thick fog of cigarette smoke in one of the restaurants that we went to. Businessmen closing deals and eating eclectic Chinese delicacy .. I still remember them vividly. I guess I've grown up too quickly and made one too many wrong decisions ...
